Notice for Microsoft Edge

Some Milliman Mind users accessing the software with the browser Microsoft EDGE may experience loss of sessions when putting their Mind tab in the background for a certain amount of time.

Why is it happening?

Microsoft introduced in a recent version of EDGE a "Save resources with sleeping tabs" feature, which will put the unused tabs into a deep sleep, even if the session is still active or some calculations are ongoing on the Mind side.

Having this tab into a sleep mode will prevent the browser from sending the required ping to the server, keeping the session alive. Milliman Mind will then close the session, thinking it is unused.

How to prevent this behavior?

EDGE gives the possibility to disable this feature for a specific website. Just follow these steps:

  1. Open Microsoft EDGE settings (three little dots on top right > Settings).
  2. Select in settings the category "System" on the left
  3. Within the "Optimise Performance" sub-setting, click on "Add" next to "Never put these sites to sleep" and add the address of your Milliman Mind app.
It is the start of the address when you open a project, for example, client1.milliman-mind.com.

Doing this should prevent the deep sleep feature of EDGE and the loss of session it causes.

Please note that this behavior doesn't exist on Google Chrome.
