Setup my computer

For model design: Install MMForExcel

We provide an Excel addin', compatible with Excel 2007 and newer (ok with Excel 365, unfortunately not compatible with Excel for Mac for the moment) that will provide new modeling functions for Milliman Mind built-in Excel.

To install this plugin:

  • Go to https://www.milliman-mind.com/mm/ to download the setup file. You will need an administrator right for most of the computers so ask your IT department.
  • Use your company Easy Install if MM for Excel is available in it.

Setup my web browser

Because of pixel-based calculation of dimensions, we only support the 100% zoom level of the browser. If you encounter glitches or offsets of grids in groups, please check your browser zoom level.

If you need to see more information at the same time in the browser, we recommend setting up a higher definition in Windows display settings (see below).

Set up Windows screen scale

By default, Windows is set up with a 150% screen scale, which cause to have very few information displayed at the same time on the screen and may cause some bugs into Milliman Mind.

We highly recommend to put this setting at 125% or 100%. To do so follow these steps:

  • Right-click on your Desktop, then click on Display Settings.
  • In Scale and layout part, change the value of property Change the size of text, apps, and other items from 150% to 125% or 100%.

Sleep mode warning

Milliman Mind sends a ping to the server every minute to keep your session alive, and if it doesn't receive this ping 3 times in a row your session will be flushed because it will be considered as inactive (except with the Keep session alive setting).

If your computer goes to sleep, it may not send those required ping messages so you may lose your session during long runs for example. To prevent that, you can:

  • Turn on the Keep my session alive for 48 hours in the settings of your Mind project
  • Or turn off the automatic sleep of your computer.
