How to display the formula field?

To display the formula field, you must be in Classic mode.

Then simply open a grid, and click on the cell with the formula you want to display:

The formula, in Mind format, will appear on the top of your grid. By default, only the first line will appear; to display the full formula you can hover the formula with your cursor.

If you want to keep the formula panel expanded, click on the fx button then select Expand formula area option:

How to activate formulas display options?

To display the indentation view of Mind formula, click on the fx button then select the Indent formula option.
It will display your formula in a more readable way, to highlight functions and parameters more easily.

Both in the indented and classic display, you can highlight opening and closing parenthesis by clicking on them. If you SHIFT+Click on an opening parenthesis, it will close its content to improve readability:

How to display the Excel version of the formula?

By default, Mind will display the converted version of the formula, but you can still display the Excel version by clicking on the fx button, then click on Excel formula radio button.

How to navigate through cells within a formula?

You can access directly a cell from your formula by holding Shift when clicking on the cell reference within the formula. It will open the corresponding grid and highlight the targeted cell.

How to partially evaluate a formula?

Like in Excel, you can partially evaluate a formula by hovering part of it and pressing the key F9.

Please note that you can quickly access the value of a cell reference within a formula by hovering it while holding the Shift key.

How to edit a formula?

If you double-click on a formula, you enter the Edit-mode.

You can then easily edit the formula, with a visual indication of parenthesis scope, and add references to other cells by simply selecting them.

When you are done, press Enter key or click on the buttons on the right to apply the formula to the current instance or to all instances.

Copy a formula

To extend a formula there are two different ways:

  • Select and drag the little blue square on the bottom right corner of the selected cell.

  • Right-click on a cell/range, then choose an option inside the Copy formula menu.
