What is Multi-Factor Authentication?

Multi-factor authentication is an electronic authentication method in which a user is granted access to an application only after successfully presenting two or more pieces of evidence (or factors) to an authentication mechanism.

Activate Multi-Factor for my company

If you are the administrator of your company, you can choose to activate MFA within Milliman Mind. For security reasons, you will need to contact Milliman Mind support to activate it.

Two levels of MFA are available:

  • For every user of your company
  • Only for users with Administrator license

You can also choose if your users will get the possibility to trust their device for 30 days, removing MFA authentication for this period, or if they need to authenticate at each login.

Setup of MFA at first login

Just after your account creation, or if it is your first login after MFA activation, you will need to link your account with a secured device.

We recommend using Microsoft Authenticator (or any other certified tool), but you can also choose to receive a text message with the validation code.

In this article, we will show you how to use Microsoft Authenticator but you can use Google Authenticator or any other certified tool as a 2nd factor of authentication.

First, download Microsoft Authenticator on your smartphone (iOS or Android):

Then open the application: you will need to add a new Account of type Others.

The next step will be to scan the QR Code displayed within Milliman Mind with your phone (or if it doesn't work to type the displayed code):

You will see that Microsoft authenticator generates a unique 6 digit code: you will need to type it into the "Enter your one-time code" field.

This step will finalize the MFA initialization and let you access the application for the first time.

Warning

Please note that if you lose access to your authorized device (smartphone), you will need to contact Milliman Mind support to reinitialize your MFA status.

We recommend using an authenticator tool to set up your MFA.
If you do not own a smartphone or cannot install the application, you can still use the Text Message option as a 2nd factor.

Access Milliman Mind securely with MFA

Microsoft Authenticator

At your next connection to Milliman Mind, you will be asked then for a unique code, generated by your phone with Microsoft Authenticator.

To retrieve this code, open the app on your phone and just copy the code (valid 30 seconds) within the interface.

You can choose to trust a specific device for 30 days or not (only if your administrator activated this possibility).
