Milliman Mind 6.0.0, 6.0.1 & 6.0.2

Milliman Mind 6.0.0 Is Out!

Written By Nikolas Ethoré (Super Administrator)

Updated at January 2nd, 2025

Milliman Mind 6.0.0 is Here, featuring a completely redesigned Projects window to make your experience smoother, more intuitive, and more efficient. It also introduces the Milliman Mind High-Performance Computing (HPC) feature, changing the way you run heavy models. With HPC, you can execute heavy models in a fraction of the original time required in classic mode. This scalable solution also offers pay-per-minute billing, giving you unparalleled flexibility and cost efficiency.

This version will be rolled out progressively to clients upon administrator requests. Unlike the 5.0 update, there will be no imposed deadlines, allowing you to transition when it best suits your organization.

When you first log in to Milliman Mind 6.0.0, you'll be welcomed by an interactive product tour. This tour highlights key changes in the interface and explains the improved workflows, ensuring a seamless transition to the new version.

In the coming weeks, we will also launch a new Tutorial Center tailored to the new version. Whether you're a beginner or an advanced user, these tutorials will provide step-by-step guidance, from mastering the basics to exploring the most complex features. The documentation will remain available, particularly for advanced features and MM_ functions.

We hope you enjoy the fresh updates and improvements in Milliman Mind 6.0.0. If you have any questions or need assistance, our support team is always here to help at support.mind@milliman.com or via the built-in chat feature.

Thank you for your continued trust,
Nikolas and the Milliman Mind Team

Major changes

New user interface

Experience a completely redesigned user interface, crafted to align seamlessly with your workflow. All existing features have been preserved, but the interface has undergone a comprehensive unification, offering a more cohesive and intuitive interaction with the tool.

High-Performance Computing

Execute your calculations on a dedicated, highly powerful server to save your own server resources and drastically reduce the runtime of your models. Be charged only for the time of your run.

Filters and sorting in the Audit trails

Both the Audit Trail of Changes and Audit Trail of Runs windows now support filtering and sorting for each column. This enhancement allows you to access the specific audit trail information needed quickly — no need to export to CSV for analysis.

A display closer to Excel

The display will now be as close as your Excel original file by using the style and the columns width of your templates. Row numbers are also hidden by default, and the scroll mode is always activated.

Formula bar improvements

The formula bar now sticks to the top of the window and is shared between all your opened grids. In debug mode, it can also be displayed in Workflow mode display.

Other changes

  • Automatic detection of Stochastic formula addition enables stochastic mode (#6560).
  • Dynamic detection of the MM_BATCHINDEX() function enables batch settings (#6559).
  • Navigation between instance scopes is now available right after the upload (#6616).
  • Fixed an issue that caused the default culture delimiter to be incorrect in the export interface. (#6702)
  • Changed the property displayed in the audit trail when setting a grid as read-only in the input manager. (#6713)
  • Resolved an issue with the input control functionality where a warning log was not generated in specific cases. (#6565)
  • Resolved a timeout issue that caused failures when signing large projects by greatly improving the time needed for signature. (#6704)
  • Fixed the displayed status of instances in the input manager when uploading data on all instances with the SPLIT option ON with partial load. (#6537)
  • Improved the MM_INSTANCE function to support ranges and not just single cell as parameters. (#6539)
  • Enabled using the "Partial Save" parameter in the HPC interface. For now, it only works with grids that have the flag /AlwaysSave from the Excel files. (#6621)
  • A warning was added when clicking on an external hyperlink. (#6656)
  • Fixed an issue that removed inputs when updating the model with the input control activated in some specific cases. (#6674)
  • Added an option to enable instance selection to spread through steps. (#6560)
  • CSV exported files now use the default separator for the user's defined culture.

Version 6.0.1

Other changes

  • Reduced compilation time of C# formulas in the Administration. (#6769)
  • Improved export of grids with the flag /ExportByInstance when on a model without instances. (#6744)
  • Resolved a specific case where the criteria of the function COUNTIFS were not correctly taken into account when values were longer than 15 characters. (#6721)
  • Corrected the fact that canceling too quickly an export made it impossible to launch a new one after. (#6757)
  • Ensured that the scientific notation format also used the decimal separator of the customer's culture. (#6745)
  • Resolved an XBRL saving issue that prevented projects from being reloaded. (#6751)
  • Improved behavior of the setting "Spread Instance Across Steps" in workflow mode with specific instance structure. (#6742)
  • Resolved an addin' issue with the function MM_INSTANCEUNION when the Excel model containing input cells was closed. (#6754)
  • Improved undo of backup entries. (#6667)
  • Fixed an issue where double-clicking on a cell containing a small percentage to display its total value would result in that cell being replaced by 0. (#6730)
  • Improved display of current results when an instance is shared between multiple instance groups. (#6680)
  • Corrected the fact that deleting an input should change the run button color to orange instead of blue and an input import. (#6699)

Version 6.0.2

Other changes

  • Fix to hide the unnecessary backup audit trail entries in the Audit trail of changes. (#6794)
  • Improved user interface for charts into dashboards. (#6000)
  • Prevent closing of the export manager while exporting or canceling an export. (#6786)
  • Adding Grid validation information on the interlink manager. (#6305)
  • Improved behavior of the validation manager to prevent multiple useless audit trail entries. (#6283)
  • Improved behavior when input link files are not used anymore by the current project and have the /no keep flag; the system should clean them up. (#6789)
  • Improved display of depending grids in the validation manager. (#6472)
  • Improved Grid validation conflict resolver, preventing revalating everything if you change one of the settings. (#6303)
  • Fix a bug that was not returning an error message during the update model, while it was ok on the first upload. (#6828)
  • Improved automatic delimiter selection based on user culture. (#6829)
  • Improved the subfolder behavior in the project manager, which could sometimes get stuck. (#6825)
  • Fix an input control bug that was not working correctly when the Split option was activated. (#6313)
  • Fixed the fact that if the default culture was French, in the classic export, the export was in English unless the value had been changed. (#6826)
  • Improved behavior when locking the seed in the Validation manager, preventing the parameter from being edited in the run and HPC run windows. (#6724)
  • Fix a bug of wrong coordinates in Audit trail additional information when a grid has /NoHeader flag. (#6669)
  • Fix a bug where some loops may not be retrieved in specific grids with MM_INSTANCEUNION while they exist on at least one cell. (#6309)
  • Better warning when deleting a folder containing opened projects. (#6663)
  • Fix a bug that could prevent the display of calculated values after a failed run, even if the values were calculated. (#6722)
  • Fix a bug that could lead to results loss after an update model. (#6777)
